Donald Stuart Finlay died unexpectedly at his home on January 10. He lived a casting distance from the house on the marsh in which he was born 92 years ago.
He pursued his happiness professionally as a teacher, civil engineer, pilot, and charter boat captain. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. His greatest happiness came from being a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a mentor and friend to many.
He leaves this life fulfilled and now goes home to join his wife Sarah True Finlay, youngest daughter Pamela True Finlay, and grandson Mitchell Finlay Smith.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Rick Emerson, and grandsons Stuart Smith and Rich Emerson, and great granddaughter Riley Smith.
An Honor Guard Ceremony will be held at Rock Harbor on Saturday, February 3 at 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Orleans-Eastham Elks Lodge, 10 McKoy Road, Eastham from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
