Manuel J. Borges, 88, of Westport, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at home. He was the husband of the late Cynthia M. (Harrop) Borges.
Born in Middletown, RI, he was son of the late Julius J. and Grace (Froias) Borges. Manny graduated from Roger's High School in Newport, RI in 1953. After high school, he worked for his father Julius J. Borges and Son for a number of years prior to becoming the owner after his father's passing. Mr. Borges enjoyed going to the Westport Fair, tractor pulls and farming. In his younger years he also enjoyed going to drag races with his friends to PA. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Survivors include 2 nieces: Grace Camara and her husband Pete of Portsmouth, RI and Dorothy Pennachi of Middletown, RI; and several other nieces and nephews.
Manny was brother of the late Dorothy A. Pennachi, Beatrice L. Cambra and Julius J. Borges, Jr.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from the Potter Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport at 11:00 A.M.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 - 4 P.M.
Interment in St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown, RI.
