Sagda Yonas Bol Demanial, beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away
unexpectedly on January 12, 2024. She was born on July 15, 1995, to Yonas Bol Demanial and
Ageth Othow Akongdit Okeny. Sagda was a ray of vibrant light, born into the Shilluk tribe of
Panyikang, Malakal, South Sudan. She blossomed where she was planted and etched indelible
imprints on the hearts of those fortunate to have known her.
After completing high school at Pinkerton Academy, Sagda pursued her passions at the
Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco. Her remarkable sense of style
and eye-catching beauty ensured she stood out wherever she went.
A woman of profound faith, Sagda held Jesus and only daughter, Maya Sondergaard, at
the center of her life. Her relentless spirit meant she never backed down without having the last
word. She was a force of nature. Her heartbeats were protests; her voice, an anthem. A defender of truth, Sagda stood up for causes that moved her, giving them all her unflinching might.
Sagda was truly one-of-a-kind. She had a heart full of emotions, a sweet nature that touched everyone she met, and a sense of humor that could light up any room. Her charismatic
presence was truly unforgettable. One thing that brought immense joy to Sagda’s life was food,
especially if it had a spicy kick. From savoring fiery flavors to exploring new culinary adventures, she always had a passion for indulging her taste buds. Sagda loved the color green and butterflies; the beauty and symbolism they held captivated her heart, reminding her of the
preciousness of life’s simple moments.
When it came to relaxation, Sagda found solace in a good warm bed accompanied by
endless episodes of Law and Order: SVU. It was her go-to comfort, providing an escape into
thrilling storylines while keeping her cozy. Music also held a special place in Sagda’s heart. She
had an incredible ability to lose herself in a single song, playing it on repeat for hours without
ever growing tired of it. But above all, Sagda was a true romantic at heart. She believed in the
power of love and always managed to find it in life’s simplest moments. Her genuine affection
warmed the hearts of those lucky enough to have known her.
But above all else, Sagda found immeasurable joy in being a mother. Going on walks and
capturing precious moments through photography with her daughter were some of her favorite activities. Their connection was so strong that they were like twin flames, with their radiant souls and the ability to brighten anyone’s day with just a smile. Sagda’s love for her daughter knew no bounds, as she always prioritized her in every aspect of her life.
Sagda leaves behind her young daughter, Maya, whom she shares with Derek Sondergaard, her loving mother, Ageth (formerly Lucia Wyli) Okeny and husband Chris Okeny, her oldest sister Atka Constant and husband Jason Constant, younger sister Magda Bol, and eldest brother Haitham Bol and wife Margaret Bol. Sagda’s radiant spirit and vivaciousness will live on in the hearts and memories of those she leaves behind. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to all those who shared in Sagda's life.
