Obituary

Max Charles Partyka, 90, of Chicopee, Massachusetts, died peacefully on January 15, 2024.
Max was born in Chicopee, Massachusetts, on August 8, 1933, the son of the late Ignacy and
Bertha (Matula) Partyka.
A lifelong resident of Chicopee, Max graduated from Chicopee High School before enlisting in
the U. S Army in 1954 during the Korean War, during which he received the Korean Service
medal - Good Conduct and the United Nations Service Medal. Max and his family owned and
operated the Falls Provision located in Chicopee. He was a member of Allied Grocers and was
a Massachusetts licensed realtor. After retirement, Max was on the Board of Directors of the
Polish National Credit Union. He was a well-liked and respected employer, who knew his
customers and their families by name.
Most of all, Max was a loving husband and father, who was supportive of his children’s
education and varied interests. He was an avid sailor and boater, and Max enjoyed ice boating
and skiing. More importantly, he shared these passions with his family. Max enjoyed his
summers in West Dennis on Cape Cod and formed lasting friendships with his neighbors and
fellow boaters in the Wrinkle Point community on Bass River.
Max was predeceased by his wife, Esther N. Partyka, whom he adored for 67 years. He is
survived by his beloved children, Mary D. Partyka, Esq. and David J. Partyka, Ph.D., both of
Chicopee. He also leaves behind his dear sister, Helen Ratelle and her husband, Gerald, of
Ludlow and sister-in-law, Genevieve M. Polak of Chicopee, along with many nieces and
nephews. In addition to his parents, Max was predeceased by his brother, Stanley I. Partyka.
A private celebration of his life was held on January 24, 2024 at Grise Funeral Home in
