Kenneth E. Loerwald, 80

Dateline: Norton, MA

Kenneth E. Loerwald, age 80, of Norton, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

He was the beloved husband of Joan H. (Lawrence) Loerwald, whom he met in 1963, while still in the service on New Years Eve and married in 1965.

In 1981 Kenneth and Joan’s prayers were answered and they were greatly blessed with the birth of their loving and devoted daughter Kendra J. Loerwald.

Born in Hereford, Texas on October 8, 1943, he was a loving son of the late Eugene H. and Marie A. (Shumacher) Loerwald.

Following his honorable discharge from the United States Navy in 1966, he sold insurance for Metropolitan Life, went to work for General Electric as a credit specialist/manager and transferred to Paramount in the early 2000’s, where he was involved with the Meals on Wheels Program. Ken later moved onto Medtronics and worked there until his retirement in 2019.

Ken’s faith and family were the upmost importance to him. He was an active communicant and volunteer at Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield, where he served as a Cantor, a member of the church choir since the early 1980’s, and along with Joan taught CCD.

In addition to his wife and daughter, he was the dear brother of D. Stephen Loerwald and his wife Kitson of Vega, Texas, Chris A. Artho and her husband Deacon Raymond of Vega, Texas, the late Daneil G. Loerwald, who is survived by his wife Sue of Gatesville, Texas and the late Ralph K. Loerwald and Ralph’s late wife Linda. He is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Saturday, February 3rd at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106) Mansfield.

Burial will be private and visiting hours are omitted.
