Donald E. “Don” Williams
July 28, 1944- January 23, 2024
Donald E. “Don” Williams, 79, of Pendleton passed away at IU Health in Indianapolis on January 23, 2024 following a brief illness.
He was born on July 28, 1944 in Anderson to the late Carl B. Williams Sr. and Elva June (Pyles) Williams. He graduated from Anderson High School in the class of 1965. He went on to serve in the US Army.
He worked in Skill Trades at Delco Remy for 32 years and retired in 1999. He was a member of the UAW 662, NRA, AMVETS, American Legion, and the Piston Poppers. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved woodworking. He was a fire arms safety and home defense instructor with the NRA.
He is survived by his wife, Sue (Riley) Williams of Pendleton whom he married on July 9, 1966 in Anderson; two children, Donna (Michelle) Nail of Port Charlotte, Florida and Kevin Williams of Del Ray Beach, Florida; six grandchildren, Cody (Lindsey) Dickerson, Cecil Mulder (Meridian Broussard) Williams, Alexander Blazer (Elaine) Williams, Rowan Taylor Williams, Donovan “Donnie” E. Williams and Dalila Butler; a beloved dog, Sam; several nieces and nephews and brother, Sonny Williams,
He was preceded in death by his parents; three siblings, Alice “Susie” Hamlin, Delores Mercer and an infant brother; and a nephew, Tony Hamlin.
Funeral service will be at 4:00 pm on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Ned Clark officiating with military rites at the beginning of the service. Burial will take place in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
