Carl Ross, Jr., 98, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home, in Ocilla, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Friday, January 26, 2024, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, in Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Ross was born September 2, 1925, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late James Carl Ross & Effie Bryan Ross. He drove a truck 50 years for Stone Oil Company, and was a security guard 17 years for Deep South before retiring.
He is survived by his three sons: Bobby & Mary Ross of Irwin County, Earl & Elaine Ross of Albany and James Ross of Brunswick; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and a sister, Doris Ross Vickers of Ocilla. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lexie Mae Grantham Ross; two brothers, Leon Ross and Oris Ross; a sister, Dorothy Ross Corbett and two grandsons: Tim Ross and William Ross.
