Obituary

Louis F. Minchello, age 86 of Avon, formerly of Brockton, died on January 21, 2024 at the West Roxbury VA Medical Center. Born and raised in Medford, he was the son of the late Louis and Margaret (Dalio) Minchello.

During the Korean War, Louis served in the Army as a Paratrooper. He was employed at Polaroid for more than 25 years.

Louis was devoted to his family, he lived by the motto “family first”. He especially enjoyed the family’s weekly visits. Louis also enjoyed trips to Disney, fishing, going to the casino and playing cards. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for his jokes and pranks.

Following his retirement, he was an active volunteer, preparing food for the elderly. He was also a former board member of the Avon Housing Authority.

Louis was the father of Robertha Hessink and her partner Jan Maat of the Netherlands, Linda Purnell and her husband John Jr., of Brockton, Karen Ahearn of Brockton, and Michael Minchello and his wife Paula of Marshfield. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of Alice Tarlowski of California, the late Edward P. Minchello and Patricia Ivey.

Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Sunday, January 28th from 10am-1pm followed by a funeral service at 1pm. Burial with military honors will be at a later date in the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
