Irene D. (Reese) West, 89, a resident of Barrington RI and Westport MA passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at South Shore Hospital. She was the wife of the late Albert B. West, they shared 63 years of marriage.
Irene was born in Fall River, daughter of the late Myron E. and Irene (Rioux) Reese and was raised by the late Lawrence and Isabel (Reese) Bourgeois. She was a longtime resident of Barrington, RI where she raised her four children and worked as a teacher for St. Luke's School for many years. Following retirement, she and Albert relocated to their beloved summer home in Westport Harbor where they enjoyed spending time with friends at the Acoaxet Club and Elephant Rock Beach Club as well as enjoying many beautiful sunsets. Irene was an avid reader and bridge player. She enjoyed rug hooking and knitting. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children: Albert "Bert" West and his wife Lora of Eden Prairie, MN, Mary West of Randolph, MA, Tricia Fraser and her husband Mark of Franklin, MA and David West and his wife Mary of North Andover, MA; 4 beloved grandchildren: Ben Fraser, Julia West DeMarco, Kaitlyn Fraser Favreau and Peter West; and 3 great grandchildren: Benjamin Fraser, Gabriella DeMarco and Bryan Fraser.
Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday. January 27, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Church, 945 Main Road Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Interment to follow in Beech Grove Cemetery, 947 Main Road Westport.
