Chester A. Scarborough, Jr., 76, of Charlton “Uncle Chet” died Sunday, January 21st at home surrounded by his loved ones. His wife and best friend, Kathleen “Kate” Early-Scarborough died in 2004. He leaves his cousin Mike and his long time friends, Gary Innamorati of Charlton, Mark Hassett, Jr. of Oxford, Jim O’Day of West Boylston, Elena Iudiciani of Oxford, Sheila Dejesus of
Webster, Dylan Gregonis of Webster, and of course Tina Kiefer of Webster who over the last 3 years treated Chester with the utmost care.
He was born in Marlborough, the son of Chester A. Scarborough, Sr. and Eva (Trotta). He graduated from Marlborough High School in 1964. Chet was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam War. After the Marines, Uncle Chet decided to take a path less traveled. He lived a life of adventure and crime. Chet’s career led him on ventures all over the world. In his later years once he retired from international smuggling, he took much pride in telling people that he loved breaking the rules that the average person was scared to bend. He also enjoyed telling people that as far as the Federal Government was concerned he was a Doctor because one of his aliases on file was Dr. Ludlow.
Chet was a character and well known throughout Worcester for his incredible stories and great wisdom. Always willing to lend a hand, Chet never met an underdog he didn’t care about. When someone would say “I have a guy for that” Chet was more often than not that guy.
Calling hours are Friday, January 26th from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Chet’s memory to Why Me Foundation, 1152 Pleasant Street, Worcester, MA 01602 it was both Chester and Kate's favorite Charity.
