James "Jimmy / Jim / Jimbo Slice" P. Conroy, 84, of Franklin died peacefully at his home on January 21st. He passed in the company of his wife of 47 years, Patricia (née Perron) and his beloved dog, Hah-pah (née Harper). He is survived by his son, Brendan and was preceded in death by his daughter, Martha.
Jim was born in Boston, MA to Theresa & John Conroy on April 10, 1939. He grew up in the Mission Hill projects alongside his eight loving siblings: Barbara, Joan, Maureen, Nancy, Peter, Sheila and the dearly departed John and Eileen. He also leaves behind 29 nieces and nephews who he adored.
More than anything, whether it be on vacation in York Beach, at Celtics & Sox games or playing trivia at the 99, Jim loved spending time with his wife and son. In the past few years, he had taken a liking to taking his dog for walks around the neighborhood and schmoozing with neighbors along the route, earning him the honorary title of Mayor of Chilmark Road.
He will be remembered for his kindness, big smile, sense of humor, and his bushy eyebrows.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass on Friday, January 26 at St. Mary’s Church, 1 Church Sq. in Franklin at 10 a.m. The family encourages attendees to wear their favorite colors instead of black.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin (ginleyfuneralhomes.com).
Given that Jim could not tell the difference between a rose and a poinsettia his family asks that you make donations in his name in lieu of flowers. Contributions can be made to either the Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or MSPCA-Angell, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
