Diane Jacqueline (Aylward) Kearns, 83, of Whitman, MA formerly of Milton, MA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, January 20th, 2024.
Diane was born in Boston to the late Walter and Lucille (Marquis) Aylward. Diane was a graduate of Milton high school. She went on to work as the senior Vice President’s secretary at the Dunkin’ Donuts headquarters. Many years later after partially retiring, Diane worked for many more years as a secretary at her son Paul’s businesses.
Diane was the sister to Walter Aylward III, AnnMarie Killory, James Aylward, and Mark Aylward. Diane was the beloved mother of Paul G Kearns III and wife Cynthia Kearns. She was the Cherished “Grandma Di” to Jaclyn, Paul, Christopher, and Sophia Kearns. And she was the loving dog mom to Eddie.
Grandma Di could often be found out in the yard working in the garden and bossing everyone around. She was known for buying the biggest balloons (twice her size) and making her famous chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting that she made for everyone’s birthdays from scratch. Diane was known at the sachem rehab for her great sass and funny remarks. She was an avid New England Patriots fan and loved watching all sports. She was the strongest woman, who was the boss of the family and always kept them on their toes. Grandma Di will be missed deeply by her family.
Family and friends are invited to attend Diane’s visiting hours Friday, January 26th from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman.
