Susan M. Rappaneau, 73

Dateline: Norton, MA

Susan M. (Chestercove) Rappaneau, age 73, of Norton, passed away peacefully, in the presence of her loving family on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at the Serenity Hill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Wrentham. She was the beloved wife of Dana L. Rappaneau, to whom she was wed for fifty-two years.

Born in Framingham, MA on January 31, 1950, she was a loving daughter of the late Michael P. and Violet R. (Dangelo) Chestercove.

Susan grew up in Franklin and was a 1967 graduate of Franklin High School. She continued her education, receiving her certification as a cosmetologist and later returned to school, receiving a certificate in floristry.

Prior to retiring, Susan was the founder and operator of the Olde Thyme Shoppe, a business she successfully operated, along with the help and assistance of her family, on Old Colony Road in Norton for thirty-four years.

A resident of Norton for the past fifty-two years, Mrs. Rappaneau was an active communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton and received so much pleasure in decorating the church during the Christmas Season. Along with her sister Cindy, they were accomplished herbalists and and members of the Foxboro Co-Op.

Susan’s greatest gift in life, whom she loved dearly, was her treasured family. Her hobbies included being an avid gardener and ballroom dancing with her husband Dana. She was also a talented seamstress, an avid shopper and loved antiquing and family vacations. She will always be fondly remembered, by those who knew and loved her, for her meticulous and fashionable appearance and the pleasing way she could light up a room with her beautiful smile.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her devoted daughters: Dana L. O’Malley and her husband John of North Attleboro, Shana M. Bourdeau and her husband Leonard of Wrentham and Kara M. Newcomb and her husband Stephen, Jr. of Norton. She was the cherished grandmother of Gavin, Aiden, Olivia, Elodie, Lilyana, Stephen, III and Quentin. She was the dear sister of Richard Chestercove of Franklin and his late wife Deborah, Cynthia Brunelli and her husband John of Millis and Karen Wasylyk and her husband John of Berkley. She is also survived by her loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, January 26th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.

Her funeral will begin on Saturday, January 27th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton. Burial will follow at the Newland Cemetery in Norton.
