Mr. Francis Joseph Dowd, Jr., a lifelong resident of Andover, passed away at his home on Wednesday afternoon, January 17, 2024. He was 57 years old.
Mr. Dowd was a graduate of Andover High School. He was employed as a Liquor Store Salesman and Wine Taster, for many years.
In his spare time, Francis enjoyed studying art and was an amateur artist himself; he loved drawing and painting. He also loved to read about all manner of subjects, listen to music, and study philosophy. He was a fitness adherent for part of his life, and he enjoyed taking walks outside, especially by the Shawsheen River. The residents of his apartment building speak highly of how kind, loving and helpful he was to all his neighbors. He will be dearly missed.
Born in Andover on November 19, 1966, he was the beloved son of the late Francis J. and Thelma M. (Birch) Dowd.
Francis is survived by his loving siblings; Kathleen M. Fitzmeyer of Haverhill; Debra J. and her husband Walter J. Crookes of Sanbornton, New Hampshire; Michelle L. and her husband Craig S. Tetreault of Naples, Maine; and Jason M. and his wife Gail S. Dowd of Billerica; his Aunt Joanne Lepine of Andover; nieces, Elena H. Twohig of Nashua, New Hampshire; and Emily A. Fitzmeyer of Ft. Collins, Colorado; and his great-niece Davina K. Twohig of Nashua, New Hampshire, along with many cousins. He was also the brother-in-law of the late Paul M. Fitzmeyer.
