Joseph Anthony “Joe” Henschel, 56, of Camarillo, California, passed away on January 11, 2024 at St. John’s Hospital in Oxnard. Joe was born in Oxnard to parents Jim and Beverly Henschel on July 5, 1967. He attended Rio Mesa High School and graduated in 1985. He went on to become a union pipe fitter, working all over Ventura County, for over 30 years. Joe enjoyed camping, fishing, cooking for his friends and family, and an ice-cold schooner. He made friends where ever he went and was a truly selfless man. As an organ donor, Joe changed even more lives, continuing to be a hero to others as he was all his life.
Joe is survived by his wife of 33 years Vina, son Joey, daughter Christina, son-in-law James, grandson James, father Jim, sisters Donna (Rod), Bonnie (David), Dorothy (Terry) and Janet (James), brothers Steve (Tami), Kenny (Tammy), Jimmy (Penny) and brother-in-law Sam, his Godchildren Michael, Chris, RJ and Samantha, as well as 15 other nieces and nephews, an ever growing number of great nieces and nephews, several kids who “adopted“ him as “Dad” and countless friends and coworkers. He was preceded in death by his mother Beverly and brothers Michael and Chris.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Miracle League of the 805, 2310 Ponderosa Dr. Suite 21 Camarillo, CA. Joe was hilarious, kind, and the best of men in every regard. He will be missed more than words can express.
A rosary will be held on February 1st at 9:30, followed by a funeral mass at 10, at Santa Clara Church, 323 South E St. Oxnard, CA 93036. Interment will be at Santa Clara cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
