Jeannine A. Flynn, age 91, passed away at Baystate Medical Center on January 17, 2024 after a short illness. She was born on June 18, 1932 to the late Joseph and Marie (Brouillard) Joyal in the village of Saint-Lucien, Quebec, Canada. Jeannine moved to Springfield, MA in March 1957 and resided with her paternal uncle and his family. Her work career began at The William Carter Company in Springfield and ended with Microtek in Chicopee where she retired at age 80. While at Carter’s she met her husband, Dick (Richard) Flynn. Although they could not speak each other’s language when they first met, they enjoyed a wonderful marriage of 58 years until his death on September 9, 2017. Jeannine was known to be a wonderful cook, sewer and seamstress. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Julie, along with several brothers and sisters: Rosaire (Collette) Joyal, Rita (Jacques) Marcotte, Almanzor (Pierette) Joyal, Ronald (Gracia) Joyal, Cecile (Paul) Geoffroy, Germaine Joyal, Gerard (Juliette) Joyal, Lucien Joyal and Maria (Rene) St-Hilaire. She is survived by her daughter, Michele Flynn of Chicopee, son David and his wife Kimberly of Upton, granddaughters Lauren and Sarah Flynn, brother Jean-Marc (Louise) Joyal and sister Huguette (Paul) Levesque along with many nieces and nephews. Jeannine was a communicant of St. Mary, Mother of Hope Church in Springfield, MA. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 21, from 2:00 - 5:00 PM. at the Grise Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 25, from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield Street, Chicopee with a funeral prayer service to begin at 10 AM.
