Obituary

Ashley M. Polito, 22, of Abington passed away at Tufts Medical Center surrounded by her loving family and friends on Monday, January 15th, after a very brief but hard-fought battle with cancer.

Ashley graduated from Abington High School in 2019 and went on to Bridgewater State University and graduated with a degree in Biology. She was going to be starting an accelerated nursing program at Curry College this Fall after which she hoped to someday work in the ICU or NICU.

Ashley had worked at Shaw’s since she was in high school, most recently in the bakery, but often worked other jobs at the same time. She spent some time working at the VCA in Weymouth, she did an internship at Mass General and spent all summer doing research with one of her professors.

Ashley was loved so much by everyone who knew her and she inspired us all with her strength, determination, work ethic, maturity, beauty, and humor. She loved music so much and had been to more concerts than she could ever count. She also loved to travel and just this past year had been to Aruba, Las Vegas, and Nashville. Those trips and many others leave her family and friends with so many memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. She had an infectious smile and especially that laugh...a laugh that would make everyone join in. That laugh came from what we believe was the most innocent, deepest part of her soul which was one of the biggest parts of who she was. Sharing love and laughter, that was Ash.

Ashley is survived by her loving parents Tami and Todd (Swenson) of Abington and Mike and Deb (Polito) of East Bridgewater as well as her big brother Mike, sister/bestie Kaitlyn, her nephew Colton, her grandfather Harry along with her bonus sisters Alisha and Brie, a large extended family, and her loving boyfriend Joe.

Family and friends are invited to attend Ashley’s visiting hours Sunday, January 21st, from 2:00-5:00pm at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. A funeral service will be held at the chapel Monday, January 22nd, at 10:00am. Burial will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in Ashley’s memory.
