Lorraine E. “Mimi” McCarthy 94, of Medway and a former longtime resident of Franklin, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, Tuesday January 16, 2024, following an illness. She was the beloved wife of the late George E. McCarthy, who died in 2008.
Born October 12, 1929, in Lewiston, Maine a daughter of the late Hilaire and Agnes (Lajoie) Emond-Banville, she was a resident of Whitney Place in Medway.
She was raised and educated in Lewiston, Maine and moved to Roslindale, MA in 1957 before settling in Franklin in 1965.
Lorraine worked for the Lombard Watson Shoe Company, was an agent for Avon products, and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her greatest joy was her family.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, cooking and attending Mass.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Brenda C. Blais and her husband Dean of Plainville, Sheila A. Dennis and her husband Craig of Franklin, James J. McCarthy and his wife Diane of North Attleboro, and Penny M. Bouley and her husband Ronald of Holliston and a sister, Joan Koch of Auburn, Maine.
Also surviving are her 7 cherished grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Lorraine was the grandmother of the late Michael D. Blais.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Saturday January 20th, at 9AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Church Square Franklin at 10AM.
Burial will follow at the parish cemetery.
Calling hours are Friday Jan. 19th from 4-7PM.
