Peter R. Loney, age 72, of Bridgewater, died January 12, 2024 at his home under the care of his best friend and life partner of 34 years Kathy Marchand. Peter was born in Brockton, a son of the late Mary (Fitzpatrick) Loney and lived in Bridgewater for several years.
Following his graduation from Brockton High School in 1969, Peter enlisted in the US Army and was deployed to Vietnam. After working at BAMSI in Brockton, Peter retired from the Brockton Veteran’s Department. Peter was also a tour guide for his best friend Butch Strahl’s travel agency Act II Travel which specialized in trips to Las Vegas and various casinos.
Peter enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Brockton Country Club. He also was a member of the the Bertocci Club, the Club National and the VFW Post 1046 in Brockton. After moving to Bridgewater, Peter met new friends with whom he would play bocci, pool, ping pong and cards.
Peter will be remembered as a people person with a great sense of humor and who was always there when someone was in need. He was most proud of his daughters and grand children.
He was the father of Devin Kuronya and her husband CJ of Bethlehem, PA and Natalie Sullivan and her husband Ian of Allentown, PA; grandfather of Rylee Kuronya, Saige Kuronya, Emmett Sullivan and Roman Sullivan and uncle of Kathy Phillips and David Riley both of Florida.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton, on Tuesday, January 23 from 10am-12pm, followed by a Funeral Service at 12 pm. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
