Obituary

CHICOPEE – Carol A. (Amo) Roy, 79, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, January 15, 2024. She passed into Eternal Life at her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Massena, New York on December 15, 1944, a beloved daughter of the late Margaret R. (Sharrow) Zajchowski who was Called Home on July 20, 1999 and the late Stanley Zajchowski who was Called Home on July 3, 2000. She was raised and educated in Southwick and moved to Chicopee in 1971 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a member of the Akwesasne Mohawk Tribe from the Saint Regis Reservation. She enjoyed traveling, playing the lottery, watching NASCAR, and crafting. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Carl A. R. Roy who was Called Home on May 7, 2009. They were married on August 26, 1972 and were blessed with over 36 years of happiness together. She leaves her six loving children, Brenda M. Amo of Chicopee, Patty Patridge and her husband, Stephen, of Westfield, Tami J. Shea and her husband, James, of Springfield, Teresa M. Serella and her husband, Robert, of Southwick, Laura E. Banville of Chicopee and Timothy W. Roy of Chicopee; her nine cherished grandchildren; her ten cherished great grandchildren; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her dear brother, Norman A. Amo; and her dear sister, Patricia H. Evett and her husband, Bart. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Prayer Service on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (please meet directly at the cemetery). There are no visiting hours. Her funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
