Angelo A. Buonaugurio, of Malden, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 14th. He was 83. Born in Boston, he was the cherished son of the late Enrico and Eva (Kladianous) Buonaugurio.
Angelo was the epitome of a hard worker. Having a strong work ethic helped him become successful in selling ice cream from his ice cream truck for the last 50 years in Malden and Everett. Angelo established many friendships throughout the years, earning him the unofficial title of the best Ice cream man around.
Angelo portrayed having a “Grumpy Gus” persona with a tough as nails attitude. In reality he was the complete opposite. You could count on Angelo to help you no matter what. He was always there to lend a helping hand. Angelo loved everyone whole heartedly, especially his family, they were his world. He will be greatly missed by all.
Angelo was the beloved husband of 24 years to JoAnn (Crowley) Buonaugurio. He was the devoted father of Joseph Buonaugurio, Angelo Buonaugurio, Jr., Laura Ann Paredes, Karen M. Gennari, Dawn Maguire and Michele Davison. Angelo was the loving Papa and Poppy of Nicholas J., Amanda F., Danielle, Brandon, Anthony, Marino, Dylan, and Cody. He was the Great Papa and Poppy of Alicia F., Mia, Hezekiah and Dakota. He was the dear brother of Carmen Hanson and the late Maryann Ranny, and the loving father-in-law of Mark Maguire and Rick Davison. Angelo is also survived by many loving family members.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with Angelo’s family in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Friday, January 26th from 4 to 7 PM. Services will conclude with a celebration of Angelo’s life at 7 PM.
