Obituary

LIMINGTON- Lucille Marjorie Temple Gammon, 100, passed away at her home in Limington, on January 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Sanford Maine on December 20, 1923, to Myra Temple.
She grew up in Alfred, Ross Corner and Limerick, and spent a lot of time with her Grandmother Edith Swinterton in Limerick. She and her sister were raised by her mother and stepfather, John Burnham, at Felches Corner in Limerick.
Lucille graduated from Limerick High in 1941. She was treasurer for the Limerick Alumni for many years.
Lucille started working at Limerick Yarn Mills at 16 years old, and that is where she met her future husband, Roland Gammon.
On January 22nd, 1944, she and Roland married in Limington. They moved to Limerick with their little dog named “Teddy.”
After marrying, she worked at Ratheons, GE, ITT Vulcan Electric, and she retired in 1976 due to ill health. After recovering, she worked for a few years at Hanolds in Standish. Following her retirement from Hanolds, she worked cleaning homes with a friend. She enjoyed being busy either in her flower gardens, reading, coloring books for adults’, needlework, or visiting her friends.
They moved to the farm on Staples Rd in Limington in 1952, where they raised their two boys and ran their farm. In 1976 they built their new home on Sokokis Ave in Limington. Here, they continued farming, raising fallow deer, Nubian goats, oxen and beef cattle, skunks, ferrets, rabbits, pigs, and the occasional groundhog. Keeping them company in the home was their pug dog “Snorka.”
She enjoyed going to the fairs with her husband, watching cattle pulls, and visiting the exposition halls. Visiting with the other farm families was very enjoyable for her.
She attended South Limington Free Baptist Church with Pastor William Rankin. She enjoyed working on the bean suppers and attending all the different functions.
She enjoyed going with the Senior Centers group on bus trips, visiting various places all around New England. Although she never drove herself, she was incredibly good at telling the bus drivers directions, (or just where to go…)
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Roland, her son Roland Jr, her sister Barbara Crenner, her half-brother John Jr Burnham, and half-sister Phyllis Burnham. She is survived by; her son Richard Gammon and wife Stella; grandchildren Patricia Gammon Whitehouse and husband Wayne, Denise Gammon Huntress and husband Steven, step granddaughter Leanne Burlew and husband Kevin of KY, Dana Gammon and partner Sandra; Great Grandchildren; Kyle Whitehouse and wife Shelby, Gabrielle Lane and husband Robert, Alexander Huntress and wife Brittney; great great Grandchildren; step great great grandchild Haille Burlew of KY, Caylee Rae Whitehouse, Melody Huntress and Kathleen Lane; and many nieces and nephews.
