Erma Whatley McCaffity, 79, of Tifton passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2024, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for funerals with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. Ms. McCaffity will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for funerals.
Darren Johnson, Dillon Helms, Dennis Brady, Drew Cherry, Aron McCaffity and Justin Partain will serve as pallbearers. James Partain will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Born January 27, 1944, in West Point, Georgia, Ms. McCaffity was the daughter of the late Mavis Stracener Whatley and the Rev. Lacy Whatley. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Derrell Whatley. She was a homemaker and loving grandmother.
Ms. McCaffity is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Apple McCaffity of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Shanna and Richie Johnson of Tifton; six grandchildren and their spouses, Kaycee and Dillon Helms, Sonya McCaffity, Aron McCaffity, Alexis and Blake Rineair, Darren and Linley Johnson and Marley and Drew Cherry; and six great-grandchildren, Jase Cherry, Hollyn Cherry, Cole Cherry, Nila McCaffity, Raylynn McCaffity and Rain McCaffity.
