Marie Angela Blazonis, 71 of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Charlton Manor Rest Home in Charlton, MA.
Born in Lowell on April 14, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Stanley J. Blazonis and the late Josephine (Kavalowskas) Blazonis. Her upbringing took place in the Lowell area, where she resided for her entire life.
Marie received her education locally and achieved a Doctorate Degree in Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University. With a deep affection for animals, particularly cats, she devoted herself to a fulfilling career as a veterinarian.
Marie's interests extended beyond her professional life. She had a passion for photography and was an active member of a photography club for a period. Gardening brought her immense joy, and she took pride in cultivating her urban garden, transforming a vacant lot below her house into a beautiful space for the neighborhood. To stay active, she engaged in activities like Jazzercise, Zumba, and Yoga.
Marie is survived by her best friends, Laura Sommers of Coeymans, NY, and Anne Sommers of Needham, MA; and her cousins, Karen Ashford of Hudson, NH and Ken Stone of Dracut.
Lastly, a special thanks to her friends, caretakers and staff at the Charlton Manor Rest Home in Charlton, MA for their exemplary care and compassion towards the end of Marie’s life.
On Friday, January 19, 2024 all are welcome to attend her calling hour from 10-11 a.m. at McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell 978-458-6816. Her funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 11 a.m., followed by procession for burial at St. Patrick Cemetery in her family's lot.
