Mr. Maurice F. Tanner, a resident of Medford and beloved father of Morgan E. Tanner, passed away at his home, unexpectedly, on Sunday morning, January 7, 2024. He was 54 Years old.
Born in Stoneham, Massachusetts, he was the beloved son of the late Charles L. Shirley M. (Felder) Tanner.
Mo was a graduate of St. Raphael Elementary School, North Cambridge Catholic and Northeaster University. He was employed as a Clinical Application Specialist for Topcon. He was also employed by Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston, for many years, as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant and for Boston Medical Center. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time on the ocean. He loved watching football and his many different cars. He will be dearly missed.
Besides his daughter, Morgan of Rehoboth, Mo is survived by his loving brothers; James B. Tanner and Robert S. ‘Sparky’ Tanner, both of Medford, cousin; Shirlette Rutledge of Powhatan, Virginia and a host of cousins and friends.
His funeral service will be celebrated in the Shiloh Baptist Church, 1 Holton Street, Medford on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Noon. Visitation will be held in the church, prior to the service, from 10 to 12. Following Mo’s funeral service, all are welcome to the Elks Lodge, 19 Washington Street, Medford. Interment will be private. Donations in Mo’s memory may be made to James Tanner, 31 Sharon Street, Medford, MA 02155.
