ALFRED- Cecilia "Sis" Mary Grantham age 85, of Alfred Passed away on January 12, 2024, at home unexpectedly.
She was born in Biddeford, Maine on July 15, 1938. She was the daughter of William Corcoran and Edna (Jose) Corcoran.
Sis attended Thornton Academy. After high school she married David A. Grantham of Dayton, Maine. They were married for 37 years. In her youth she loved working on the OOB pier. Other Jobs Sis had throughout her life were McDonalds in Saco. She worked for Key Wood Manor when she first moved to that community over 20 years ago. Sis's favorite job was working as a greeter for Walmart in Biddeford for several years before transferring to the Sanford store. During her time there she made many friends. She had a great love of the beach, Wells beach in particular. In Sis's younger years, she had many interests such as roller and ice skating. She had a great love of horses, shopping and used to love playing Bingo and Beano at the old Saco Armory and the Rochambeau Club in Biddeford. Old John Wayne westerns and modern-day police dramas were her favorite television past times.
Sis had many interests and enjoyed many activities. Later in life Sis was a member of the 2002 State Senior Championship Bowling team. She always wore her championship jacket with great pride.
Sis was a very strong woman. She survived a brain aneurysm and brain surgery over 30 years ago. She was very strong-willed and independent. She lived her life on her own terms.
For the last 7 years Sis has lived with her partner John Hudanich whom she loved very much.
Sis is survived by her partner John; her 4 children Kim (Grantham) Trask and her husband Greg of Dayton, Julie Grantham-Mead and husband Tim of Limerick, Bryan Grantham and wife Pearl of Dayton, Ginger Grantham and her partner Dave Dixon of Dayton. Eight Grandchildren: Jason, Bryan, Kacie, Keith, Katrina, Joey, Travis and Heather. Twelve great-grandchildren; sister- Joan Gamash of Dayton; one aunt- Ann Wilde of North Andover Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Cecilia "Sis" will be laid to rest in a family burial at Goodwins Mills Cemetery on January 19th, 2024.
