Jeanne Ann (Holt) Bartkus, 79 of Worcester, MA, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at UMASS Memorial Medical Center University Campus. She leaves two sons- Steven F. Bartkus of Petaluma, CA and David C. Bartkus of Worcester; a daughter, Elizabeth A. "Beth" (Bartkus) Quinn and her husband Robert D. Quinn of Worcester; four grandchildren, Steven, Hannah, Brendan and Theodore; a sister Beverly R. Gosselin; a niece Sherry A. Gosselin; a brother-in-law John A. Bartkus; a cousin Warren Lundsten; two great nieces and four great-great nieces and nephews. Her husband of 54 years Francis G. Bartkus predeceased her in March 2021.
Jeanne was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Florence (Sjoblom) (Holt) Mahoney. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1962, where she met her high school sweetheart. She began her career during high school at The Paul Revere Life Insurance Company, where she worked as an IBM keypuncher, alongside her best friend Mary (Silva) Pichierri.
Married in 1966, Jeanne and Frank went on to raise three children together.
Later in her career, she worked as a traveling sales rep for Norton Company (Saint-Gobain), finally retiring from Pegasus. To keep busy post-retirement, Jeanne worked 16 years as a nanny in Shrewsbury for the Ruhela family.
Sundays were her favorite day, with church and family dinners setting the tone for her week. She was a long time and very active member of the former Bethlehem Covenant Church (now merged with Salem Covenant Church), where she served as a Sunday School teacher, church board member, on the diaconate team, and was in charge of the bake table and Christmas room during the annual Swedish meatball supper.
She volunteered at the polls in Quinsigamond Village. She enjoyed baking and creating custom birthday cakes for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed going on many shopping trips with her sister Beverly and their close friends, always looking for treasures buried at yard sales and thrift shops.
Jeanne created many memories with her family, hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, taking vacations along the Maine coastline and North Conway, NH every year. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She will be missed deeply by her friends and family.
