In Loving Memory of Julia Sullivan

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Julia Sullivan (Connolly) a resident of West Roxbury for over 55 years, who left this world on January 10, 2024 at the age of 92. With the everlasting love of her family, Julia peacefully transitioned to her eternal rest.
Born on December 20, 1931 in Inis Oirr, Aran Islands, Galway, Ireland. Julia arrived in Boston at age 19 to meet her beloved husband and raise her family. Julia lived a life marked by love, compassion, and unwavering strength. She was a pillar of support and a source of inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Julia was a loving wife for over 50 years to her beloved John J. Sullivan until his death in 2014, a devoted mother to her six children, a cherished grandmother to her four grandchildren, and a dear friend to many.
A woman of immense faith and resilience, Julia navigated the journey of life with remarkable dignity. Her kindness knew no bounds, and her generosity touched the lives of countless individuals. Whether through her warm smile, comforting words, or nurturing presence, Julia had a unique ability to make everyone around her feel valued and loved.
Julia was passionate about family, and her home was a haven of warmth, laughter, and hospitality. She created a legacy of love that will continue to inspire and guide generations to come.
Julia is survived by her son Stephen Sullivan and daughter-in-law, Ina of West Roxbury, her daughter Eileen Sullivan of Needham and her children Christopher and Matthew Ricciardelli, her daughter Julie Fitzgerald and son-in-law Daniel of Chelmsford and their children Erin and Meghan Fitzgerald, as well as Meghan’s fiancé Brendon Yesenski., and her son Thomas Sullivan, also of West Roxbury. Julia was a loving wife to John J. Sullivan, the devoted mother of Joseph D. Sullivan and John M. Sullivan, who preceded her in death. She leaves behind her younger brother Patrick Connolly of California. All will carry forward the legacy of her love, strength, and resilience. In addition, Julia is survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly all over the world.
While we mourn the loss of a remarkable woman, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the indelible mark she left on the world. Julia leaves behind not just cherished memories, but a profound impact on the hearts and minds of all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours in celebration of Julia’s life on Monday evening, January 15th from 5-7 pm at Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St, West Roxbury.
A Funeral Mass to honor and remember Julia Sullivan will be held on Tuesday morning, January 16th at 10 am at St. Theresa of Avila Church, 2078 Centre St, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to St. Theresa of Avila of West Roxbury in Julia's memory.
