Quietly, quickly, and with dignity, Patricia M. Reidy passed into eternal life in the same way she lived her life on December 6, 2023. She was 94.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Pat earned a BA degree from Notre Dame College in Staten Island, NY. Pat and her family moved to West Springfield in 1970. Deeply religious, she was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Pat worked at the former Westbank for 27 years, starting there as a teller and retiring in 1995 as the Assistant Treasurer. Upon retiring, she moved to her beloved Cape Cod with her husband Tom. In 2007, Pat relocated to Briarwood Retirement Community in Worcester where she spent many active years in a wonderful and vibrant environment. Pat was predeceased by her husband Tom Reidy, her daughter Colleen Reidy, her son, Tim Reidy, and her first cousin and best friend, Evelyn DiPaci.
She leaves her daughters, Lori Paterwic and her husband, Bob and Brenda Poznanski and her husband, Brad; her grandchildren Brian Poznanski and his fiancée, Emily Collins, Bridget Poznanski and her husband, Patrick Ingelmo, John Paterwic and his fiancée, Julie Fryman, and Kelli-Ann Paterwic. She also leaves behind her sister, Jacquelyn Langenbach and her husband, Bruce; and many nieces and nephews.
Pat was a stoic and determined person with a strong sense of independence as well as quiet humility and grace. She was extremely proud of her Irish heritage. She was a wonderful role model who always maintained a positive attitude. Her family saw her as their “Lighthouse” – their guiding light. Pat loved to dance, see a show, and play cards. But, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Church, 167 E Falmouth Hwy, East Falmouth with burial to follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Connery Avenue, Bourne, in the Spring. Memorial contributions can be made to the Timothy J. Reidy Memorial Scholarship, Pope Francis Preparatory School, 99 Wendover Rd. Springfield, MA 01118. O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester is assisting the family with arrangements.
