Maria Victoria “Uca” Ortiz - Rivera, 55, a longtime Lowell resident, passed away on Tuesday, January 9 at her home in Lowell. Her lifelong struggle with multiple sclerosis and cerebral palsy has ended.
She was born on August 12, 1968 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, a daughter of the late Victor M. Ortiz - Alicia and her dear mother, Georgina Rivera Moreno, with whom she resided.
Uca, as she was affectionately known by family and friends, loved her family and always remained humble. In particular, she loved her siblings and loved to pick on them, especially her sister Rosa. Despite a hard life, she was always happy. Heaven gained a smiling angel, she will be forever missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Besides her beloved mother, Georgina, she is survived by her siblings, Yolanda De La Cruz and her husband, Roselio, of Lowell, Juan Soto of Lowell, Carmen Santos of Boston, Wanda Vidal of Lowell, Jose Vidal of Lowell, Rosa Vidal and her husband, Santo, of Lowell, Israel Feliciano and his wife, Milagros Cabrera, of Lowell, 31 nieces and nephews and many grand nieces and grand nephews.
She is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Additionally, she was the aunt of the late Daniel Mercado.
On Friday, January 12, close friends and family are invited to her private visitation from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. and her funeral service at 5 p.m. at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA 01852.
