Janice R. DeFlumere, age 82, passed away on Jan 8, 2024 at CareOne at Newton Nursing Center. She was born in Holyoke on Oct 1, 1941 to the late Anthony and Ruth (Moore) DeFlumere. Janice was a member of Faith Methodist Church in Fairview. She worked for many years as a salesclerk for Things Remembered and also ran a bargain shop for many years also in Fairview. She enjoyed traveling. Janice leaves her companion of over 50 years Reid “Whitey” Besserer of Chicopee; two brothers, David DeFlumere and his wife Gloria of Chicopee and Michael DeFlumere of NY; a stepsister, Susan Roberts and Whitey’s son, Robert Besserer and his wife Lori of Chicopee. She also leaves her close friend Lisa (Roberge) Bell of MN who was like a daughter to her. She was predeceased by one brother, Robert DeFlumere. A Celebration of life will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A private burial will take place at a later date.
