Obituary

Ed Alex “Beau” Dix, 35, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, January 8, 2024, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Ocilla Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jay Roberson and the Rev. Blane Jacobs officiating. Dene’ Hogan and Raye Dix Harper will deliver eulogies. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery, in Ben Hill County, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church in Ocilla.

Beau was born March 11, 1988, in Tifton, Georgia, to Alex Richard Dix and Wendy Patton Dix. He graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 2006 and played football for the Purple Hurricanes. He also attended Georgia Southern University in Statesboro. Beau enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors and spending time with his friends. He also loved animals and helping people. Beau enjoyed his work cruising timber and surveying land. Beau was a member of First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald.

He is survived by his mother, Wendy Patton Dix of Fitzgerald; his father, Alex & Michelle Dix of Ocilla; step-grandmothers: Patricia Register of Fitzgerald and Venita Kennedy of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; a step-sister, Amanda & Nick Powell of Doerun; two step-brothers: Alan & Lacie Rowe of Valdosta and Adam & Kayla Rowe of Fitzgerald and five nephews and one niece. He will also be missed by Mazzy Grace, his yellow lab and faithful companion, and canine best friend. He was preceded in death by: maternal grandparents: Wendell and Sara Faie Hunter Patton; paternal grandparents: Bobby & Vida Hudson Dix and his step-grandfather, David Register.
