Brian P. Belanger, age 57, passed away on January 6, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born on July 11, 1966 in Springfield, son of the late Paul and Kathrine (Nason) Belanger. Brian lived most of his life in Chicopee and Springfield. He was a graduate of Chicopee High School, Class of 1985. He was a US Army Veteran of 27 years who served during Desert Storm, Afghanistan and Iraqi Freedom. He won the Chicopee Veterans of the Year, Charles Tracy Award in 2023. Brian was a member of the American Legion Post 452 in Chicopee, the Chicopee AMVETS Post 12 and the Hampden VFW Post 9397. He was an avid New England Sports fan and enjoyed watching everything from Basketball to Hockey. Brian worked as the warehouse manager for City Tire in Springfield for almost 40 years. He is survived by his wife Mary (Sokolowski) Belanger of Springfield; two sons, Eric Belanger of Springfield and Justin Belanger and his fiancé Rebecca of Milldale, CT; three brothers, Roger Belanger of South Hadley, Paul Belanger and his wife Jackie of Springfield and David Belanger and his wife Lucy of Springfield; his beloved grandson Hunter along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. Funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at the funeral Home. An in-house Prayer Service will take place at 1:00 PM followed by committal prayers with military honors in the Chapel of the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam.
