Charlene M. Dunkerley, 68, of Derry, NH died Wednesday January 10, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Charlene was born in Waltham, MA on July 20, 1955, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (O’Connell) Hickie. She had resided in Derry for the last 43 years, formerly living in Waltham and Arlington, MA.
Charlene Dunkerley was wonderful, creative and kind. She brought brightness and joy into so many lives. She had a long successful professional career. She filled many roles with every job, from Sales Coordinator and Office Manager to a Core Processor and then Transaction Processing Representative IV later in her career. She excelled at every job, giving each one all of her professional effort. She deeply cared about everyone she met and helped everyone she could. She loved playing with her grandchildren and creating amazing crochet animals and sweaters for them. She loved to read and would spend hours emersed in a literary world. She enjoyed making delicious cookies for everyone. She loved doing crafts and projects and loved to learn anything and everything. Most of all she loved her family and spending time together.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Dunkerley of Derry, one son, Erik J. Dunkerley (Caitlin Macadino) of Billerica, MA, one daughter, Norah B. Richards ((Jeffery) of Derry, four grandchildren, Lillianna Richards, Miralise Richards, Evelyn Dunkerley, and Sophia Dunkerley, two brothers, William T. Hickie of Hudson, MA, and Kevin M. Hickie of Arlington, MA, and one sister, Ann E. McDevitt of Burlington, MA.
Following cremation, a calling hour will be held on Saturday January 27, 2024 from 1:00 to 2:30 pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, followed by a Catholic prayer service at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Dana Farber.
