CHICOPEE – Patricia A. “Patti” (McDonald) Zygarowski, 76, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, January 8, 2024. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on November 16, 1947, a beloved daughter of the late Edward J. and Irene P. (Murphy) McDonald. She was raised in Holyoke, graduated from Holyoke Catholic High School and had lived in Holyoke for many years before moving to Chicopee in 1976 where she lived the remainder of her life. She furthered her education at the Holyoke Business School. She was employed as an Office Manager for the Peter Pan Bus Lines on Northampton Street in Holyoke. She also was an Avon Lady for over 40 years throughout Western Massachusetts. She was a communicant of Mary, Mother of Hope Church in Springfield and a longtime communicant of Saint Patrick Church in Chicopee where she served her parish as a cantor, choir member, Director and Instructor for the CCD Program, and was often requested to sing for many weddings and funerals. She volunteered countless hours at the former Saint Patrick School in Chicopee where she was a beloved noon mother and substitute teacher. She later taught kindergarten at Blessed Sacrament School in Holyoke and was a cantor for the parish. She absolutely adored her Yorkshire poodle, Shasta and her two dachshunds, Yogi and Pebbles who passed on before her. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and many friends vacationing at Cape Cod and Virginia Beach. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Robert J. “Bob” Zygarowski. They were married on September 13, 1975 and were blessed with over 48 years of happiness together. She also leaves her two loving sons, Ryan J. Zygarowski of Chicopee and Sean E. Zygarowski and his wife, Jennifer, of Southwick, her two loving step-children, Robert J. Zygarowski, Jr. of New Port Richey, FL and Gina A. Zygarowski of Chicopee; her two cherished grandchildren, Madison Lee Mackenzie and Jack Patrick Zygarowski; her dear brother, James McDonald of Brimfield; her dear sister, Nancy Bailly of Chicopee; her two dear sisters in law, Diane Obzanski of Palm Coast, FL and Christine Zygarowski of Chicopee; her dear brother in law, Joseph R. Zygarowski and his wife, Kim, of Gainesville, GA; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and numerous friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved step-daughter, Michelle A. Zygarowski who was Called Home on April 11, 2019; her dear father in law and mother in law, Martin J. Bernier who was Called Home on April 1, 2013 and Gisele H. (Turgeon) Bernier who was Called Home on March 1, 2019; and her two dear brothers in law, Paul Obzanski and Gerald Robertson. Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:15 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, Springfield, MA 01104. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Patrick Cemetery, 168 Fuller Road, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral home parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
