Lloyd J. “John” Darling, Jr., 80, of Providence, and formerly of Millville, MA, passed away Saturday December 23, 2023 while at home.
Born in Woonsocket he was a son of the late Lloyd J. Darling, Sr. and Ellen (Peterson) Darling. Everyone knew him as John.
Mr. Darling was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.
Music was at the very heart and soul of John’s life. He was a talented musician playing and teaching bass and guitar. His music and his dry sense of humor could make anyone smile. John attended Berkelee School of Music in Boston for a period of time.
John made his home in Providence for many years and loved spending time with family and friends when he could.
John is survived by his daughter Jennifer Darling and her Significant other Jeffrey Roberts of Tiverton as well as two grandchildren Aiden John Belcastro Darling and Parker John Roberts. He was the brother of Beverly Strojny of Dennis, MA and Dorothea “Dottie” Sullivan of Falmouth, MA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families. He was the former husband and friend of Dorann (Ezovski) Morris.
John will be laid to rest in a private service at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. at a later date. The family will hold a private memorial service and gathering in celebration of John’s life.
