CHICOPEE – Rosa “Rosie” Narvaez, 79, of the Willimansett Heights section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, January 6, 2024. She passed into Eternal Life from her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico on September 3, 1944, a beloved daughter of the late Felipe and Rosario (Gonzalez) Narvaez. She moved to Manhattan, NY, in 1956 where she graduated from Washington Irving High School and later lived in Holyoke, Springfield, and Chicopee. She was a longtime Claims Specialist for the Baystate Physicians Group in Springfield. Rosie enjoyed writing short stories and was working on a novel, loved to cook and will be fondly be remembered for her “world famous” spiced cake, but most especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She leaves her two loving and devoted sons, Jose A. Narvaez of Chicopee and Angel M. Navaez of Springfield; her eight cherished grandchildren, Samantha Moonblossom, Antonio Narvaez, Emilyrose Narvaez, Donovan Narvaez who was also her longtime and loving caregiver, Angela Narvaez, Alexandria Narvaez, Angel Narvaez, Jr., and Airyanna Narvaez; her cherished great granddaughter, Miali Hernandez; her loving “daughter that she never had”, Rebecca Hernandez of Chicopee; her two dear sisters, Luz Narvaez and Juana Dhanraz and her husband, Dhanwhat, all of Puerto Rico; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her dear brother, Manuel Narvaez; and her two dear sisters, Nellie Narvaez and Ida Echeverri. Her family will receive friends on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
