Charles K. Toomey Jr. “Kenny”, age 87, died peacefully December 23, 2023, after a lingering illness. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth M. (DiGiacomo) Toomey, his three sons, Michael and his wife Laura of Saugus, MA, Steven and his wife Laura of Peabody, MA, and Brian and his wife Tammy of Malden, MA. Kenny is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael of South Portland, ME, Christopher and his wife Shelley of Wells, ME, Melissa of Saugus, MA, Cailyn of Arlington, MA, Stephanie of Saugus, MA, Caden of Malden, MA and Kelcie of Malden, MA. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Emma and Abby, both of Wells, ME, his sister Carol of Reading, MA, and a large extended family.
Kenny worked as a machinist for many years, and later, as a custodian in the Malden School system. After retiring, he went back and worked in the cafeteria at Malden High School. He was one of the founders of the Ambassadors Drum & Bugle Corps, of Malden, MA, and one of the original organizers of the Malden Holiday Parade.
Kenny was a Boston sports fan, his favorite teams being the Bruins and Red Sox. He also enjoyed being with his family, dining at local restaurants, traveling to Drum Corps shows, and puttering in his yard. He will be deeply missed by all.
Relatives & friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant Street, Malden on Thursday January 11th from 11 AM to 1 PM. Interment services are private.
