John C. “Jack” Lanni passed away peacefully comforted by the love of his family at Tufts Medical Center in Boston on Friday January 5th. He was 76 years old. Born and raised in Medford, he was the son of the late Bennie and Antoinette (Toffalo) Lanni.
A hard working man, Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. Throughout his life he worked as a mechanic. Jack eventually focused his skills on repairing printing equipment and because of the breadth of his experience over the years, his expertise was often sought out to repair older and more complicated machines. Jack was the guy everyone in his family sought out to repair anything. Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends. His spirit of generosity was demonstrated in a commitment to youth sports in Malden for nearly four decades. He coached little league in Malden, founded the Malden Youth Soccer League and coached Pop Warner football.
Jack was the beloved husband of Janet (Patrie) Lanni. He was a devoted father to Michelle Burns and her husband Jim, Jack Lanni and Pamela Bell, and Billy Lanni and Julie Fisher. He was a loving grandfather to Bridgette and Brandi Lanni, Antoinette and Sarah Burns and Benjamin Lanni. He was the dear brother of Theresa Lunn and the late Ben Lanni, Marguerite Corrado, Arthur Lanni, Pauline D’Allesandro, Frances Stahler, Rita Conti, Bobby Lanni, Albert Lanni and Paul Lanni. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford on Wednesday, January 10th from 4 – 8 PM and again on Thursday morning at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St. at the Malden-Medford line at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s name to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN, 38105.
