Rita M. Sanders, 91

Rita M. (McMahon) Sanders, age 91, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the embracing love of her family on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph N. Sanders, who died on March 4, 1999.
Born in Walpole, MA on March 7, 1932, she was a loving daughter of the late John H. and Mary K. (Crosby) McMahon.
Rita grew up in Walpole and Norwood and was educated in Norwood Public Schools. Prior to retiring, she was employed as a cafeteria worker at Mansfield High School, Mansfield Elementary Schools and at Stoughton High School.
A dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, Rita had made her home in Mansfield for the past fifty-two years and formerly resided in Stoughton. She was a member of the former United Methodist Church in Mansfield and while a resident of Stoughton, was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church.
Rita’s family was the love of her life and when younger, enjoyed camping with them in Maine. Her hobbies included ceramics, crocheting, cake decorating, bowling and was also known for being an avid reader.
She is survived by her devoted daughters: Paula M. Shook and her husband Rene of East Hampton, CT, Eleanor J. Cushing of Mansfield, Susan J. Webber and her husband Carl of Mansfield and the late Pamela J. Sanders. She was the cherished grandmother of Sarah Shook, Joshua Shook and his wife Jona, Nicole Erskine, Andrew Webber and his wife Valerie and the great grandmother of Clinton Webber, Weston Webber and Zachary Jeffcoat. She was the dear sister of the late Howard McMahon, Amy Kascavitch, Marion Hiotes, Edward McMahon, Sr. and is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday, January 12th at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield. Burial will follow at the Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.
Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service on Friday morning beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
