Patrick Mazzone, affectionately known as "Papa" by most, aged 83, resided in Tewksbury for 47 years before relocating to Methuen. He brought his family from East Boston to Tewksbury, where he forged a lifetime of cherished memories. He was a member of St. Dorothy's Church in Wilmington and was often seen there with his late wife, Gigi. He peacefully passed away surrounded by family and friends at Haverhill’s Highpoint Hospice House on January 4, 2024
Patrick was predeceased by his devoted wife of 57 years, Cecelia “Gigi” Mazzone, and will be joyously reunited with her in Heaven.
Born in East Boston on March 13, 1940, he would have celebrated his 84th birthday this year. He was the son of the late Anthony Mazzone and the late Josephine Mazzone.
Patrick grew up in East Boston, attended Boston Public Schools, and began working at a young age. He started by shining shoes at Logan Airport and later worked as a Ramp agent for Eastern Airlines and Northwest Airlines. In addition to working for the Airlines, he held other jobs to provide for his family, instilling the values of hard work. He retired from the Airlines in 2000 and subsequently started a cleaning business, which he managed until his passing, with assistance from his sons and grandchildren.
Beyond his professional endeavors Pat had a fondness for the excitement of Thoroughbred horse racing. He also was Part owner of a thoroughbred horse. It was a hobby that brought him joy and added an element of excitement to his life. Papa also relished traveling with his wife, family, and friends, always embracing life with dance and joy. Following his wife's passing, he continued his travels, particularly savoring the annual trip to Las Vegas during the Super Bowl with his sons Mark and Jeff, among others. There, he delighted in the casinos, delicious meals, dancing, and having fun. Last summer, he had the pleasure of visiting Salisbury Beach with his daughter Tricia, enjoying his final swim, visiting the Brook in Seabrook, playing cards, and being surrounded by family and friends. Above all, he treasured attending his grandchildren's activities and sporting events, where he cultivated many friendships. He was a genuinely special person who made everyone feel important, whether family, friend, or even strangers he had just met. His cheerful disposition and positive outlook touched the lives of all he encountered.
Pat is survived by one brother Louis Mazzone of Australia. Additionally, Pat is survived by three children, Mark A. Mazzone and his wife Maria, Jeff Mazzone and his wife Brenda, and Patricia G. Fleming and her husband Daniel. He leaves behind seven adored grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Nicholas, Christian, Cassandra, and Nyah Mazzone, and Patrick, Daniel, and Ryan Fleming. He is also survived by cousins Beatrice Dantona and her husband Robert of Wakefield, Louis Aceto and his wife Evelyn of Tewksbury, Bernice Aceto of Woburn, and many other family members and friends. Pat will also be sorely missed by his furry companion Benji. He will be welcomed in heaven by Annette, John, and Francis Aceto.
