Obituary

Gilbert William Grabowski ascended to heaven, at 84 years old, surrounded by his family on December 30, 2023, after a short illness. He joined his wife Sandra Marie Grabowski 6/9/42-5/20/2000.

He was born and raised in Detroit, MI. Gil joined the Navy after an education at a catholic high school and proudly served on the USS Essex in the Blockade of Cuba.

Gil met Sandra on a blind date, while being stationed at Weymouth Naval Air Station. They married soon after, and had four children Lisa, Lori, Scott, and Mark. They lived in Braintree while he attended Northeastern University, where he excelled in Mathematics. He then moved to Hanson, where he lived for 47 years.

Gil was an entrepreneur. He enjoyed sailing, aviation, going to yard sales, darts, golf, hunting, fishing, and yard sales....

As a computer analyst he traveled the world.

Friends, young and old loved Gil, and many loved him like a father. He was generous and charitable. He was a long-time member of St. Joseph the Worker church where he served as Eucharistic Minister.

Gil was survived by his children, Lisa, Lori, Scott, Mark and his wife Shelly, eight grandchildren, Marc, Christine, Robert, Jack, Shannon, Kristal, Lily and Jill, and his three great grandchildren, Haley, Mackenzie and Marina.

A graveside service will be held at the Fern Hill Cemetery at a later date.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 27th at 11:00 AM at Fern Hill Cemetery, High Street, Hanson. There will be a celebration of life to follow at the American Legion, 104 King Street, Hanover.
