JOHN A. GEARHART OBITUARY
John A. Gearhart, 68, of Cherry Tree, PA passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
The son of Blair D. and Mary G. (Solley) Gearhart, he was born on February 26, 1955 in Spangler, PA.
He married the former Isabel M. Stambaugh on November 24, 1973 and they have shared fifty years of marriage together.
John attended Jeff Tech and worked as a carpenter for many years with his father’s company, Blair D. Gearhart Construction.
He loved gatherings where he got to see his family and spend time with them. John enjoyed hunting; truck pulls; planting vegetables and flowers and tinkering on all sorts of projects. John liked watching Westerns on TV. Starting in childhood when he was with his grandparent, he loved watching “The Sound Of Music.”
John also assisted with the local Boy Scouts Troop in Mahaffey, PA.
He is survived by his loving wife Isabel; his four children: Shawn Gearhart and wife Tammy of Cherry Tree, PA; Angie Renninger and husband Steve of Alverda, PA; Stacey Ellenberger and husband Ben of Brockway, PA and Shane Gearhart and partner Kristy Bialas of Indiana, PA; his six grandchildren: Mason Gearhart; Kiara Renninger; Peyton Lasher; Kennedi Lasher; Guinevere Gearhart and Julian Gearhart; his step-granddaughter: Nora Ellenberger; his three great-grandchildren: Kensley; Wrenley and Paxton Renninger; his siblings: Alice Baker and husband Jeff of Philipsburg, PA; Roy Gearhart and wife Janice of Franklin, PA and Jean Harkleroad of Mahaffey, PA and his beloved dog, Deeks.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his son: John Thomas “JT” Grant Gearhart; his grandson: Kyler Renninger; his brother: Blair D. “Buddy” Gearhart, Jr., his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Lawrence and Florence Stiffler and his beloved dog, Max.
Family and friends will be received from 1:00-4:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA, where a 4:30 p.m. funeral service will take place. Pastor Paul Price will be officiating. A celebration of John’s life will take place at a later date.
