Obituary

RONALD S. WALINSKY, 77, of Millbury, formerly of Worcester, Holden and Barre, passed away Friday December 15, 2023 at his home. He is survived by his niece and caregiver, Lynne Jalbert, her husband Michael and their children, Alyssa, Andrew and Rebecca of Oxford, his brother Stephen V. Walinsky Jr., a daughter Tara Prentiss, other nieces and nephews including Mark Walinsky of Gypsum, Colorado, and several cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Lorna (Davis) Walinsky, a sister-in-law, Eleanor Walinsky and his mother and father, Anna (Zaparaskas), and Stephen V. Walinsky Sr. Ronald was born in Worcester.
Mr. Walinsky earned his Associates degree in Engineering and was a Metallurgical Engineer for PresMet, Inc. and Lindberg Heat Treating Co. He then worked at County Heat Treat where in addition to his engineering duties he was Facilities Manager. Ronald was a U.S. Air Force veteran during the Vietnam War and continued his service, achieving the rank of Tech. Sargent in the 101st TAC group, Air National Guard. While living in Barre and Holden, he was a volunteer member of the Barre Fire and Rescue Squad, and the Holden Fire Dept.
When not working he enjoyed socializing with his fellow members of the 318 VFW post, the Eagles cub, and most recently with the folks at the Wheelock Inn. He was quick with a quip, and continued to insist that he could still waterski at Webster Lake, even though he needed his walker to maneuver at home.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2024 with a Mass at 11:00 A.M. in St. John’s Church, 40 Temple Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be held at St. John’s Church from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM prior to the funeral Mass. The family would like to thank all of the people at CARE ONE in Millbury for their wonderful care of Ron over the past few months. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Food for the Poor Program, 44 Temple St., Worcester, MA 01604.
