GILMANTON IRON WORKS ---- John N. Wahlstrom, 87, of North Road, died on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Concord Hospital - Laconia.
John was born on June 28, 1936, in Boston, MA, the son of the late Nils J. Wahlstrom and Anna (Larson) Wahlstrom. He grew up in Quincy, MA and was a graduate of Quincy High School. Prior to retirement, John worked as a structural engineer for United Engineers & Constructors for many years.
Family always came first for John. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed playing the guitar, playing with the group People Next Door in Massachusetts in earlier years, then playing with the Melody Makers for 20 years in NH.
John enjoyed working around the yard and spending summers by the pool. He enjoyed playing cards and traveling and cruising with friends and family. In earlier years he loved to ski in the winters and spend the summers at the family cottage boating and fishing. He was an incredible handyman, able to fix or build anything.
John is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Cynthia (Karlson) Wahlstrom; son Kenneth Wahlstrom and his wife Barbara; daughters Beverly Wahlstrom and Cheryl Thurber; 4 grandchildren, Brooke Thurber, Matthew Thurber, Erik Wahlstrom and Morgan Wahlstrom; and 3 nephews. In addition to his parents, John is predeceased by his sister Doris MacDonald.
There will be no Calling Hours.
Burial will be held in the spring of 2024.
