Miriam N. Brewer
April 21, 1932- December 28, 2023
Former Anderson resident Miriam "Mimi" N. Brewer, 91, passed away in Naples, Florida on December 28, 2023.
She was born in Lafayette, IN on April 21, 1932, and at the age of two moved to Anderson with her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Leonard Nesbit. She attended Anderson schools and belonged to the First Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Abbot Academy in Andover, MA and Northwestern University, where she sang in the Acapella Choir, Waa Mu Show, and an opera. She joined Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
After college she joined American Airlines as a stewardess and later as a recruiter of stewardesses for American. She also did promotional work for Pepsi Cola in Chicago and New York. Her love of travel took her to Canada, Mexico, and Europe several times. She also visited Greece, Scandinavia and The Orient.
Returning to Anderson in 1965, she was a Pink Lady for Community Hospital, belonged to YWCA, Kappa Kappa Gamma alums, Anderson Country Club, Elks Club, The Fine Arts Center, and the First Presbyterian Church.
In 1971 she married Mark Brewer and when he retired from General Motors they moved to Naples, Florida. In Naples she belonged to the Northwestern University Alumnae Club, American Airlines Kiwi Club, Kappa Kappa Gamma alums, and the Club at Pelican Bay. She sang in the choir of the Moorings Presbyterian Church for many years.
She is survived by her son, Robert Brewer (wife Monica) and granddaughter Madeline all of Nashville, TN; stepson, Michael Brewer (wife Janet) of Bloomfield Hills, MI; stepdaughter Pamela (husband Mike) Seaver of Tulsa, OK; stepsons Dan Brewer and Mark Brewer II of East Windsor, NJ.
She was preceded in death by her husband Mark and her parents.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 2:15 PM at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be held from 1-2 PM on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Rozelle Johnson Funeral Service.
