WILLIAM “BILL” A. HOWELLS OBITUARY

William “Bill” A. Howells, 88, of Marion Center, PA went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center in Indiana, PA.

The son of Louellon and Hope L. (Lemmon) Howells, he was born on March 4, 1935 in Dixonville, PA.

On December 3, 1955 he married the former Ethlyn “Babe” M. Sebring and they have shared over sixty-eight years of marriage together.

Bill was a member of the Dixonville Wesleyan Church.

When he was young, Bill loved horses, especially Ginger.

When he was twenty-five, Bill welded the tubing for the USS Enterprise Submarine. After that he worked in manufacturing new Chevy cars at Lordstown, Ohio.

In 1970, the family moved back to PA and he worked fifteen years for McCreary Tire and Rubber Company in Indiana, PA. When he turned eighty-four, he still helped his son Gerry in his machine shop.

Bill was known for always having the nicest lawn and the cleanest truck and car around. He was much loved by his whole family. Bill greatly enjoyed camping with his children and young friends. He also loved to fish.

He and Babe enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida with their daughter Shelly and family for over twenty years

He is survived by his loving wife Babe, his four children: Shelly Yamrick of Venice, FL; Kenneth Howells and wife Lily of Marion Center, PA; Gerald Howells and wife Shirley of Clymer, PA and Ed Howells and wife Vicki of Home, PA; his eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; his sister: Dora Greene and husband John and his brother: Butch Howells and wife Helen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister: Joan Lukehart and his grand-daughter: Jodi Ryan.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 8, 2024 and again from 11:00 a.m. to Noon on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA, where a 12:00 noon funeral service will be held on Tuesday immediately following the viewing with Pastor Paul Wallace officiating. Interment will take place at the Marion Center Memorial Cemetery in Marion Center, PA.
