Mary E. (Tighe) Herbert, 61, of Salem, NH, passed away peacefully after a period of declining health at Parkland Medical Center on Monday, January 1, 2024. She was the longtime companion of Paul J. Dawson of Salem.
Born on February 24, 1962, in Cambridge, Mary was the cherished daughter of the late Theodore F. "Ted" Tighe and Margaret A. "Peggy" (Gately) Tighe of Lowell, MA. She spent her early years in Cambridge before her family relocated to Lowell. Mary completed her education in Lowell, ultimately graduating from Lowell High School.
A devoted family woman, Mary's unwavering presence was a source of comfort for those she loved. Her career spanned several years at Raytheon as an assembler, and she also dedicated herself to the well-being of others as a CNA in the greater Lowell area and Southern New Hampshire. She loved loved the outdoors, and spent time at her camp in Weare, NH.
In addition to her mother Margaret "Peggy", of Lowell, and her companion Paul of Salem, she is survived by her beloved son John W, "Jay" Herbert of Salem, NH, whom she loved dearly, and was very proud of him and his accomplishments. She is also survived by her two sisters, Linda A. Zuniga of Salem, NH, Jean M. Tighe of Lowell, her best friend Wendy Veillette of Hampstead, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Theodore M. "Teddy" Herbert, and the sister of the late William "Billy" F. Tighe, Joan T. Tighe and Michael F. Tighe.
On Monday, January 8, 2024 all are welcome to attend her calling hours from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Tewksbury Funeral Home, 1 Dewey Street, Tewksbury 978-851-2061. Her funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. in the funeral home, followed by procession to St. Mary Cemetery in Tewksbury.
