LACONIA ---- Nancy Ellen Merrill, 89, of Sheridan Street, died on Monday, January 1, 2024 at Concord Hospital – Laconia.
Nancy was born on December 1, 1934, in North Waterford, ME, the daughter of the late Nelson Monroe Rolfe and Thelma Elizabeth (Morse) Rolfe.
Nancy worked as a stitcher at Pittsfield Shoe, Sweaterville, and Dutton’s Manufacturing. She enjoyed spending time with family, the many business trips she took with her husband Kermit to Nashville, Tennessee, Disneyland, Disney World, Las Vegas, along with many trips to the ocean with many close friends and family. She also loved the trips to Quebec, Canada during the winter to watch her husband race his motorcycles on the ice during the winter carnival.
She enjoyed many years of being the rental agent for The Leavitt Park House. Spring time was one of her favorite seasons because of her love for planting flowers was like no other. Her granddaughters and great-grandchildren were the spark in her eyes. She loved to be present at as many awards nights, softball games, volleyball games and dance recitals as she could be. She touched many lives with her kind spirit and big heart. She always wanted to make everyone feel welcome. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Kermit Merrill; daughter Cindy Dinan and her husband Gary; son Steve Merrill and his wife Corinne; granddaughters Jaymie Paquette and her significant other Gavin Bell, and Chelsea Vlacic and her husband Petko; and great-grandchildren, Caleb, Madison, and Abbigail Paquette, and Carson Vlacic. She is also survived by her sister Evelyn Moody, sister in-law Theresa Rolfe and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Alice Smith and her husband Donald Smith; and brothers Nelson Rolfe and Leo Rolfe.
There will be no Calling Hours.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
