Devon Alexander Halley, 45, of Somerville MA passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Mass General Hospital, surrounded by family.
Born in Malden MA on July 25, 1978 to Douglas and Michelle (Cobbett) Halley, Devon grew up in Massachusetts (Pepperell and Winchendon) and went on to graduate from Emerson College prior to moving to Los Angeles to pursue film editing. He returned to his Massachusetts roots in 2009, living briefly in Dorchester, before settling in Somerville in 2011 with his wife and son.
Devon’s lifelong love of trains led him to his most recent job as an Audio/Visual IT support tech with the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority, a job that he started in November 2023.
He was a devoted husband, father, son, and friend. He had a huge heart, a sharp wit, and his mind was a repository of trivia and historical facts. Devon enjoyed spending time at home with his family, trips to aquariums, zoos and museums, British comedies, classic movies, anime, and video games. Devon loved to cook and bake, a passion he was happy to share with his son.
Devon is survived by his wife of 15 years and partner of 20 years, Rebecca (DuBay) Halley, his son Alexander (Al) Halley, his parents Douglas and Michelle (Cobbett) Halley, his brothers Jonas and Meghan (Shoemaker) Halley and Noah and Susan (Campbell) Campbell-Halley.
A burial service will be held for family and friends at The Gardens Cemetery in West Roxbury on Friday, January 5th at 2pm.
